Help Laila and baby Sham get to Egypt safely

Hello everyone, my name is Laila Abd

El Bari and I am writing to you from the Gaza Strip. I am 38 years old, I got married to the love of my life last year (2023)

and we are expecting our first daughter. The expected date for the arrival of our little one is 08/24/2024 and she will be called Sham.

Unfortunately, the arrival of the war changed everything: our house and everything we owned are no longer there, everything was destroyed and like many, we no longer have anything. We have also lost our jobs and no longer have any source of livelihood.

As hard as it is, if it were just us, we would try to resist. However, we are very worried about our little one: I am carrying on with a pregnancy in a difficult and malnourished situation.

My husband and I therefore decided to try to leave the strip and cross the border into Egypt. In order to do this, we have to pay a fee of 5000 dollars each. We are therefore here to ask for your help, every small donation is very important to us. I would like to be able to give birth in a safe place, in Gaza the hospitals are out of order or seriously damaged and I would like to be able to guarantee my baby will come into the world in a protected place and supported by doctors, not under bombs and in the total lack of hygiene and safety.

In addition to the 10,000 dollars to cross the border, which is the primary objective and we would already be very happy to reach this goal, we would like to raise some money to buy basic necessities (we have nothing for our little girl), rent a house but above all pay the medical expenses we will have to bear. Being a foreigner, healthcare costs are our responsibility.

It is very difficult for us to ask for help, but you are the only possibility to allow Sham to be born in a safe place and not in the midst of rubble and bombs.

We ask you to help us rebuild our lives in Egypt, once we have crossed the border and found a home, we will look for a job and try to guarantee a happy, peaceful and love-filled life for our little girl, a right that should be everyone’s.

Ciao a tutti, mi chiamo Laila Abdel Bari e vi scrivo dalla striscia di Gaza. Ho 38 anni, mi sono sposata con l’amore della mia vita lo scorso anno (2023) e stiamo aspettando la nostra prima figlia. La data prevista per l’arrivo della nostra piccola è il 24/08/2024 e si chiamerà Sham.

L’arrivo della guerra ha cambiato, purtroppo, tutto: la nostra casa e tutto quello che possedevamo non c’è più, tutto è stato distrutto e come molti non abbiamo più nulla. Abbiamo anche perso i nostri lavori e non abbiamo più nessuna fonte di sostentamento. Per quanto dura, se fossimo solo noi, cercheremmo di resistere. Siamo però molto preoccupati per la nostra piccola: sto portando avanti una gravidanza in una situazione difficile e di malnutrizione.

Con mio marito abbiamo per cui deciso di tentare di lasciare la striscia e passare il confine con l’Egitto. Per poter fare ciò, dobbiamo pagare una quota di 5000 dollari a testa. Siamo quindi qui a chiedere il vostro aiuto, ogni piccola donazione è importantissima per noi. Vorrei potere partorire in un posto sicuro, a Gaza gli ospedali sono fuori uso o gravemente danneggiati e vorrei poter garantire alla mia piccola di venire al mondo in un luogo protetto e supportata da medici, non sotto le bombe ed nella totale mancanza di igiene e sicurezza.

Oltre ai 10.000 dollari per passare il confine, che sono l’obiettivo primario e già saremmo felicissimi di raggiungere questo traguardo, vorremo raccogliere dei soldi per comprare beni di prima necessità (non abbiamo nulla per la nostra bambina), affittare una casa ma soprattutto pagare le spese mediche che dovremo sostenere. Essendo una straniera, le spese sanitarie sono a nostri carico.

È per noi molto difficile chiedere aiuto, ma siete l’unica possibilità per permettere a Sham di nascere in un luogo sicuro e non in mezzo a macerie e bombe.

Vi chiediamo di aiutarci a ricostruirci una vita in Egitto, una volta passato il confine e trovato una casa, cercheremo un lavoro e cercheremo di garantire una vita felice, tranquilla e piena di amore alla nostra bambina, un diritto che dovrebbe essere di tutti.
