Help LaNija get a car for work!

Summary: My car was totaled in an accident and I am fundraising to get a new one; so that I can continue to do community outreach and help those recovering from addiction.

Hi, my name is LaNija (luh-nye juh) Brown and I live in Charlotte, NC. I work doing Community Outreach for a non-profit called SMART Recovery. SMART trains people to facilitate peer-to-peer support meetings for folks struggling with addiction.

I absolutely love what I do. It is truly a gift to travel around Charlotte, spreading the word about SMART, and helping people get the support they need to recover from addiction and thrive.

On March 24th, 2024, everything changed. My world was turned upside down as my car was totaled in an accident. I was hopeful that my insurance would help me get a new vehicle, but the payout went straight to the bank, as I had not been able to pay off the car yet. This was devastating for me, because I had created so much momentum doing outreach, and had many big goals and plans coming up.

Unfortunately, Charlotte does not have adequate public transportation, as it is common for a simple one way trip of less than 20 miles to take over 2 hours one way, and includes multiple transfers that typically do not have aligned schedules.

I need a car to continue doing this work. I don't want or need the flashiest thing on the market, all I'm asking for is a reliable car with low mileage that can take care of me while I take care of others. Thank you for helping me, God bless.
