Help Larry and Pam Overcome Medical Hurdles

Dear Friends and Family,

Anyone who knows Larry - Tony - Tony O - Odland knows he’s the Real Deal (genuine, authentic, true, original, certified, certifiable, bona fide, proper, actual, honest-to-goodness)! After sharing his life with MD (Muscular Dystrophy) for the past 38 years - he continues to keep smiling through the pain. Talk about Grace!

2024 has handed Larry’s family quite a few challenges: health scares, medical expenses, wheelchair repair/replacement, and vehicle repairs.

In February Larry was hospitalized with a collapsed lung. After 5 days he was sent home with a warning there is a high percentage of recurrence. Timeframe unknown. Larry quit smoking.

In July Larry proved the percentages correct returning to the hospital. After 10 uncomfortable days he happily returned home. Percentages go up.

While he’s in the hospital, his wife Pam joins him two rooms down the hall. She had fallen down a flight of stairs to the basement resulting in major bruising and more notably severe trauma to her right foot leaving her unable to walk. She’s SO lucky after 6 days she was able to return home and continue recovery with in-home therapy.

Did you know wheelchair repairs or new purchases ($15,000) are not covered 100% by Medicare? Owning a wheelchair requires two batteries (one for back up) that cost over $300. After many years of repairs (almost missed his Mom’s funeral) the old is out and the new finally arrived in July after months of waiting. Must be a relief to have something more dependable!

Larry was confined to his “Man Cave” for 6 weeks this spring due to the combination of wheelchair and vehicle repairs (or lack of). When Larry’s vehicle is not operating he’s stuck at home. His wheelchair accessible vehicle is his freedom to be mobile on his own.
