Help Larry Come Home

On 11/28/2020, life changed drastically. My father suffered a hemorrhagic stroke that left him paralyzed on his left side of his body. The stroke affected his ability to walk, talk, and swallow properly. My father is only 56 years old and now requires assistance in all daily living tasks. He is unable to walk and sit up on his own. After spending a month in the hospital, he now lives in a nursing home undergoing intense rehabilitation. Due to Covid-19, we have been unable to see him in person which makes this difficult time even harder. We are doing our best to keep in contact with him through FaceTime, phone calls, and window visits.
When the time arrives for my dad to finally come home, he will be returning home in a wheel chair. What this means for my family is that we will need to make major modifications to our house. Some of these modifications will include: making a handicap accessible ramp to our front entrance, making a handicap bathroom and bedroom on the main level of our house, widening hallways and doorways, and purchasing medical equipment that he may need. Unfortunately, due to our economic situation, we are unable to financially do this by ourselves and we are asking for help.
My father means the world to my family. If you have gotten the chance to interact with my dad, you will know that he is a character and always tries his best to get a good laugh out every person he meets. One of my favorite memories with my dad was when he would put on magic shows for my sisters and I when we were younger. Prior to the stroke, he would perform some of his magic tricks for my students in my class. He called this “magical mornings”. Magic was and still is one of my father’s favorite things to do. I am hopeful that with the proper resources and help, I will be able to see him regain the strength to participate in his love for magic. Now, I am asking for a little bit of magic to be done to help bring my dad home.
I understand that financially, times may be quite difficult for everyone. Especially now in our crazy Covid world that we are living in. If you are able to, please donate to our gofundme page. All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read and listen to my dad’s story.
