Help Larry Hale with living & racing expenses.

We are trying to raise money for Larry’s living and racing expenses as he was recently displaced from the home he was living in with his son when his son sold the property. Fortunately, we have found a place for Larry to live, but he has some needs that he could use our help with. Larry is on a limited income, and in order for him to continue to race for whatever years he has left, we are asking for help from the racing community and friends. Our goal here is to allow Larry to get hearing aids, glasses, and a cell phone as well as help cover his entry fees, fuel and maintenance on his race car so he can continue his passion of racing. We all know how much being active helps longevity and at 86 years of age and with prostate cancer, racing from time to time keeps Larry active and gives him purpose. The racing community has always banded together to help those in need so we are hopeful that enough people contribute so that he can continue to be a part of this sport that Larry helped lay the foundation for, and we all love.
As mentioned, Larry is an 86-year young bracket racer who calls Firebird Raceway in Boise, ID his home track. Larry got his start in racing at the age of 14 at Santa Ana drag strip in California, the first drag strip in the US. Larry was young enough that in order for him to race, he had to have an authorization paper from the drag strip signed by his parents, and then notarized. His first car was a 33 Ford with a flat head engine. He continued to run flat head Fords until he graduated to Cadillac powered cars. At one point, he even licensed in a Nitro injected rear engine dragster. Larry currently drives a 1960 Cadillac powered Studebaker Lark VIII that he bought in 1970. He sold and re-purchased the car two times over the years and continues to race it today. Larry is a very low budget racer, and he pulls his Studebaker on an open trailer to the track with a 1965 Chevy El Camino that is also powered by a Cadillac engine. While Larry doesn’t venture far from Idaho anymore, over the years, he has towed with his El Camino from Idaho to races in Las Vegas, Fontana, Salt Lake and Seattle. Larry is moving to Twin Falls Idaho so he will not be racing a lot, but he wants to do the bigger events at Firebird raceway as well as some events at Sage raceway in Idaho Falls. If you feel you can contribute, your help will be greatly appreciated!
