Larry Kicks Cancer

If you know anyone in the Johnson family, you know greatness. As friends, neighbors, and business owners, they have stood as a pillar in the Western Oklahoma community for many years, serving as champions of strong character and generosity.
If you know Larry, you have a story embedded in your memory that made you smile right now. Maybe it’s related to time you spent with him that resulted in shenanigans and laughter. Or, perhaps you’ve been touched by his unique gift of storytelling, of observing simple things about people, places, and events that he spins into a yarn that makes your day brighter and your heart lighter. He might have turned you on to some great new music or said something kind to you at the precise moment you needed to hear it. This is the stuff our dear LJ is made of.
Larry has recently been diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. He has tumors in his colon, lungs, liver, and spine. He is undergoing surgery for severe back pain and will begin chemotherapy shortly. Although this is a tough battle to fight, his gloves are on and he’s looking the enemy square in the eye. Thanks to a selfless team of supporters by his side, including Lana, his children, his family, and his friends; faith in God; and the many prayers on his behalf, Larry has a heart filled with gratitude and the courage to move forward and defeat cancer.
He needs our help. Here are some of the things he is facing as this journey unfolds. While health insurance covers some of his expenses, the out-of-pocket contribution is quickly becoming unmanageable. Some of his medications have cost $400-$500. Additionally, there are travel, meal, and lodging expenses for him and the family members supporting him during the treatment. There are also normal bills coming in right now that are difficult to manage given he cannot work. Any contributions to this fund will help him and his loved ones endure this struggle with a bit more ease.
Martin Luther King said, “Only in the darkness can you see the stars.” Thank you in advance for being one of the stars for Larry and the Johnsons during this dark and difficult time. Through your love, generosity, and prayers, the healing can begin. Thank you!
