Help Larry Smile

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

I write to you on behalf of Larry Clum who has given his strengths and heart to help those in the greatest of need.  As his younger sister, I can attest to the integrity of who he is and has always been. He is kind, compassionate and giving in a way many cannot fathom. He has given his strengths and heart to advocate for the severely marginalized homeless and mentally ill population.  Now his strength and heart are in trouble and we can advocate for him.

He often shares with me his happiness in helping these loveable, vulnerable people. For those who know Larry we witness his true joy through observing his million dollar smile.  Larry’s smile is among one of his signature traits.

We are now very literally trying to save his smile and help him continue on in his great work as an advocate for Seattle's mentally ill homeless population and encourager of us all.

Larry enjoyed a very normal Easter with our family, serving us food and laughter, he had run six miles the night before.  The next morning, Larry was sent to the ER by his eye doctor due to experiencing double vision.  They immediately admitted him to the neurological unit. Within 24 hours Larry was unable to stand alone and barely able to speak. Sadly, due to Covid- 19 he isn’t allowed any visitors and it is very difficult to converse on the phone due to his extreme weakness. They have observed the beginning of facial drooping as well.  It took nearly four days to conclude he had suffered a brainstem stroke. It appears to be affecting many of his voluntary muscles, including his ability to see clearly, open his eyes, and smile.

The road ahead is suspected to be long. He is also experiencing abnormalities with the function of his heart, which likely led to the stroke.  Larry, and we his family, are people of faith and are praying for a complete return to health and believing the best.  Please join us in this most important effort.

Although it is difficult for Larry to communicate it is evident that his mind is clear.  He is concerned for his wife and three children as he has been the primary financial provider. I know many of you care for Larry’s well-being on a personal level. I ask for support for he and his family while he is unable to work.  The less stress he has, the better his prognosis.  As I continue to search for ways to help him from afar, I know this is a way that we can step up to help bring a certain peace to him.

If you are willing to give to his family for provision and medical expenses, we can help make him smile (be it a little crooked or not) please donate to this effort. Any small amount will help.

Thank you all,

Nancy Frigaard, D. Min, LMFT, PSOLC

Doctorate of Ministry, Licensed Marrriage and Family Therapist, Proud Sister of Larry Clum

Also, a big thank you to Larry's Dad John Clum for helping Larry manage the funding that this campaign is bringing in.
