Lathisms (Latinxs and Hispanics in the Mathematical Sciences) was founded in 2016 with the mission of showcasing the contributions of Latinx and Hispanic mathematicians during Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States of America. 


Our goal is to continue to provide an accessible platform that features the multifaceted and diverse nature of the Latinx and Hispanic mathematics community and inspire the younger generations of Latinx and Hispanic mathematicians. In 2021, we are working to become a nonprofit in order to expand our services and programming for the Latinx/Hispanic community within the mathematical sciences. We are seeking donations to submit the necessary paperwork to become a nonprofit organization.  


Becoming a nonprofit will allow us to:


1. Set up a scholarship fund for Hispanic and Latinx students (including undocumented students).

2. Expanding our freely accessible content (posters, podcasts, blogs, etc.) that highlights Latinx/Hispanic mathematicians. 

3. Continue our efforts in maintaining and improving our website. 


With the money raised by this campaign we will:


1. Hire a lawyer to write and submit the articles of incorporation for the organization.

2. Establish an account to support future fundraising activities and any funds beyond the campaign will go directly to the scholarship fund.
