Help Launch a Mail-In Clothing Repair Business!

Hello, my name is Claire, and I’m starting a mail-in clothing repair business in South Pasadena, CA called FOREVERYWEAR!.

 

I specialize in bringing life and opportunity back to clothing, bags and furniture. I was born with an unusual amount of optimism and empathy that makes it very challenging for me to turn away a broken object or a special story. I’m a sucker for your favorite long johns that they stopped selling and your grandpa’s threadbare jacket that reminds you of stories about him. Bring me whatever your mom or dry cleaner turned away - not much scares me.

 

I have been building my skill set as a patternmaker, seamstress and clothing repair specialist over the past 15 years with the help of: elders that have shared their expert techniques, the Repair Cafe community, trade school classes, workshops, my students, and the opportunity to work in unique positions in the Filson Restoration Department, Patagonia’s Worn Wear Program, Nike’s Blue Ribbon Studio, and MARKET’s Random Workshop.

 

I did a pilot of this idea back in 2017 in the form of a casual instagram post and a PO Box. I needed a flexible way to make money in between our Worn Wear repair tours with Patagonia, and keep my chops up sewing. 5 years later, I still have people hitting me up for clothing repairs by mail, and I finally caved and decided to take notice of this very obvious opportunity in front of me.

 

It’s just going to be me for now, but my dream is that I’m so overwhelmed with work that I get to train up a small team of clothing repair specialists to keep me company and free up time to integrate more teaching into my work.

 

Today I am ready to launch this project into the world, and I'm asking for your help to do it right. I have no doubt about the insane number of repairs you guys are going to send in, but the startup costs of getting this thing rolling are real. I know you guys want this to exist as much as I do, so I thought I would share this journey with my community to help bring it to life!
