Help Laura WIN her Fight with Cancer.

The strongest person I have ever known and my best friend for over 30 years, Laura deRojas, is facing the greatest challenge of her life. In October, this Fireball-Do-It-Yourselfer was told she had stage one pancreatic cancer. Laura’s family and friends were certainly devastated by this news, but with hope, faith and lots of prayers, we will all strive to lift her up in her cancer journey.

Laurie is not only a loving mother and grandmother, she is also a highly respected, and talented elementary school art teacher in Palm Beach County. Throughout her 20+ years, she has touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. She always puts the needs of her students first and leads many clubs and activities such as safety patrols, academic games, tutoring and after school arts and crafts nights… all for the love of her students.

That being said, we are asking for your prayers and financial support for our dear friend, Laura. Even with insurance, cancer is not cheap! Of course, there are yearly deductibles, co-pays for office visits, medications, treatment, surgery and time off from work for recovery, but that is just the beginning. Other household expenses increase when you have to hire people to take care of the upkeep and maintenance of your home.

If you know Laura well enough, then you also know that she is never one to ask for ANYTHING. She is used to doing everything herself and takes great pride in being independent. Three years ago, she fulfilled one of her lifelong dreams, and that was to own a home of her own.

As a single mother living on a teacher’s salary, one can only imagine how difficult a financial hardship this can be. This is one ‘DIY project’ she cannot handle on her own and could really use the help of her friends and family at this time.
