Help Lauren Olson

As many of you have heard, Lauren was in a horrible automobile accident the afternoon of March 5. On her way home, she was struck by an out of control vehicle that ran a red light. She was immediately taken to HCMC trauma center for treatment. She had emergency surgery for a bleed in her stomach and colon. She also had a rod inserted into her femur to repair the break she sustained. Both surgeries were a success and the doctors were happy with the outcome, especially given the trauma her body went through. Unfortunately, she also sustained a brain bleed from the trauma of the crash. The Neurosurgeon inserted a stint into her brain to try and relieve some of the swelling. They will keep her sedated for about 5 days to let the brain repair itself. They are also doing multiple CT scans daily to monitor the bleed and track her progress. She is now in the to the ICU Peds ward and will be there under the care of the wonderful nurses and doctors at HCMC. The driver of the other vehicle should not have been driving, with no valid license, no insurance, and several dozen traffic violations in the last few years.

The family asks that you continue to keep this beautiful girl in your thoughts and prayers during her recovery. We know how much she is loved and can't thank you enough for all your support. We truly have a wonderful community and can feel the love and prayers you are sending us.
