HELP LAUREN SHEA KICK CANCER

Our daughter, Lauren Shea is a mother of two beautiful children and lives with the love of her life, Adam. Lauren, Adam, and both of her children were born deaf. Lauren was not feeling well for the past few months, sleeping a lot, not eating, and finally went to her doctor for a check-up. After numerous tests, we found out she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 40 years old.

In an instant, her life has been turned upside down. Life is hard enough going through the Pandemic; but putting a mask on, going to her four different doctors asking for an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter is not easy on her because of the high risk of COVID.

To get to know Lauren a little better, her biggest accomplishment since moving from Delaware to Frederick, MD was to be an assistant coach for the Maryland School for the Deaf middle school girls’ basketball team. She helped them win 1st place in a tournament for the first time ever. She worked many hours of volunteer work at MSD and earned the 2020 Award for Volunteering. While her 2 children attended Delaware School for the Deaf, she also taught ASL at night for 3 years to adults to learn sign language.

For many months to come, Lauren is going to accumulate numerous medical bills that will not be covered for Chemotherapy, Radiation, testing, blood work, and her prescriptions. She will need rides to and from her treatments for more than 6 months. As her treatments are going to be aggressive to help her fight this cancer, no one knows how they will personally handle everything that is to come. Lauren is always giving to other families and friends and even has decided to donate her hair.
