Help Lay Cecil Shurbutt to Rest in Talladega

Hi, my name is William Shurbutt-Rardin and it is with complete humility that I must ask for some financial help to take my mom to her final resting place in Talladega, AL. It’s hard because I’m a giver, a helper, and never ask for anything in return.

On August 30, 2024, at 12:17 pm, my mother, Cecil Avery Ponder Shurbutt, at the age of 91, passed from this world. She was my only constant for 58 years throughout all of my life’s journeys.

Mom was a career Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for approximately 60 years and worked the graveyard shift for the pay differential as she was raising her 5 kids after a failed abusive marriage. She always maintained her grace and dignity throughout her life’s ups and downs.

Mom’s life insurance policy was enough to have her cremated and a headstone ordered. My husband’s job cut his hours (seasonal job) and we were depending on mom's last social security check to travel home, but SS stopped the check. I have to rent a car and a motel room once in Talladega, plus we still have to purchase an urn. Her graveside service is Saturday, September 28th, which is short notice, but we were relying on misinformation and that’s why I’m in this situation.
