Help Lay Tammy Jean Kulaga to Rest

It is with a heavy heart that I unfortunately will have to bury my mother, Tammy Jean Kulaga.

My mother and I were at a loss in connection during my 31 years of life, strained would be a better term, I know she loved me deeply and wholeheartedly. It is heavy to admit that I don't think anyone could have helped Tammy at the point she had turned due to her struggle with substance abuse.

Tammy had a lot of resilience to her and she was someone who truly vouched for and protected her family any way she could. She was light, kind, forgiving, caring, feisty. I see a lot of her in me and I truly wish this lifetime made time for her to be easier on herself and stay sober.

She was due to head to recovery with my Aunt Tina this next week. Unfortunately it is with a heavy heart, that we will bury her the same day.

My loved ones and I are struggling to financially recover from everything we are about to have to pay for and honestly I'm never one to ask for help like this by any means. I'd be lying if I didn't say anything helps at this point. To my knowledge I am the only family member in Texas as far as my mother's side of the family goes. Everyone does not live here and is pushing pockets to fly here so soon/quickly/hotels/flight expenses.

Tammy deserved better for herself towards the end of her young life at 49, 6 months shy of 50. There are so many things I wish I could say, change, hold her. Anything. The sad truth is I cannot.

I can, try, stand tall and do what I can to send my mother off peacefully.

At this moment, laying her to rest next to her mother surrounded by her loved ones, guided by Brother Travis. I know she'd be smiling.
