Help Layah Sing in Germany

Hi family and friends! As you all may have heard I have been awarded the opportunity to further my craft and career in Germany! Although, I have been hard at work and planning for this summer endeavor, I could use some financial assistance from my loved ones to help me get there. Anything you can give would be appreciated, and I can’t wait to make you all proud across the globe.
Layah Brown-Givens, Soprano, is a sophomore vocal performance major from Houston, TX under the guidance of Dr. Tyler Smith. Her achievements include competing and performing in the TMEA All State Mixed Choir in 2022, being selected as a Choral Scholar at St Paul’s United Methodist Church’s program in Houston, receiving 1st place in the Bay Area Chorus Scholarship Competition, receiving 1st place in the Fall 2022 NATS Southern Region Competition, and receiving 2nd place in the Spring 2023 Louisiana State NATS Competition. Layah is a member of Loyola’s University Chorale and Chamber Singers. She can also be found singing in the choir at Trinity Episcopal Church. Layah has performed on stage with famous singer such as Andrea Bocelli and Nadine Sierra, as well as multiple performances with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Her hard work as an opera singer is already beginning to pay off.

IPAI (International Performing Arts Institute) is a 3 week Opera intensive from July 7th-July 27th that focuses on developing the artistic capacities and direction of the total artist with an emphasis on experiencing German culture and musical connection. All participants will have a busy schedule that consists of rehearsals for a German opera/operetta, musical theater scenes and private voice lessons. Participants will have participant opportunities during the program which include 2 scenes concerts in collaboration with the Kiefersfelden Musikkapelle (community band), a musical theater song night, an opera aria night, 1-2 Liederabend concerts, 1-2 cabaret concerts, and of course singing in master classes.
