Help Laylan get new skates

This is the original Facebook Post!:
This is Laylan, he is 13, and 6’5. Laylan loves only a few things in life.. one of them being hockey. He has skated and played hockey since he was 4. This is the first year he won’t be able to skate unless we find some skates. I’m reaching out to Facebook to see if anyone knows of anyone His feet have grown to a size 16 men’s. To buy him brand new skates would start at $1500. I don’t know how much his feet will grow and don’t want to spend that much. If you know anyone with a size 15 men’s skate. Thank you
With the power of social media this post was shared over 500 times in 24 hours! I am amazed and humbled of how much people care!
A lot of people have offered to help get him a new pair, and have directed me to buy online. I will try this route! I was just hoping that some man had an old pair sitting in his garage and was happy with second hand.
Thank you for caring about my son and supporting this family!
If you want to do more but can’t donate:
-Please consider donating to your local outdoor rink
-When it snows this winter get your shovel and go to your local rink and help shovel it off so those kids can play
-Consider donating some skates online PIF
-Get your local rink maintenance man a Tim’s card.
-Be a part of your community that helps support the rinks
Its not just skates (even though they are essentially the part you need) that makes a hockey player, it’s the community, the coaches, the ones flooding the rink and shovelling it off. It takes a community to make a hockey player, to make it something they can inspire towards.
Its people like you, willing to help a boy get some skates! Thank you
