Help Layn Rebuild Her Life Eaton CA Fire
Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
My name is Layn Beggs, and I am reaching out to you during the most difficult time in my life. I am a 27-year-old trans woman, a bartender by trade, and someone who has always strived to create warm, welcoming spaces for my community. I’m writing this with a heavy heart as I work to pick up the pieces of my life after a catastrophic wildfire swept through my neighborhood in Altadena, California, destroying my apartment and everything I owned.
On the night of the fire, I was bartending at Seven Grand in Los Angeles when I received word that evacuation orders had been issued for my area. While I immediately feared for my home, I never imagined the sheer scale of the disaster. Later that evening, I watched in horror as live news coverage showed flames engulfing my block. I saw my apartment complex—my safe space, my sanctuary—being consumed by fire. I lost everything: personal belongings, cherished keepsakes, and essential items like clothing, documents, and my medications.
Adding to this devastation, the fire also severely damaged one of my workplaces, leaving me without a stable source of income. With no apartment to return to, no belongings to rebuild from, and no steady paycheck, I am now facing an overwhelming challenge: starting over from scratch.
How Your Support Will Help
I am humbly asking for your support to help me rebuild my life. Here’s how any donations will be used:
1. Immediate Needs and Medications
The fire claimed everything, including my prescriptions, which are vital to my health and well-being. Donations will help me afford the cost of replacing my medications, purchasing new clothes, and covering basic necessities like toiletries and food.
2. Housing Costs
Finding a new place to live in the Los Angeles area is daunting, especially in the aftermath of such a tragedy. Donations will help me secure a safe, stable apartment by covering a security deposit, first month’s rent, and moving costs.
3. Furniture and Essentials
I am starting from scratch. Funds will go toward replacing furniture, kitchen supplies, bedding, and other household items that were lost in the fire.
4. Emergency Savings
With one of my jobs shut down due to fire damage, I have lost a significant portion of my income. Your support will help me cover bills, transportation, and daily expenses while I search for additional work.
Why Your Help Matters
As a trans woman, stability and safety have always been challenges I’ve had to fight for, and my home was the one place where I could truly feel secure. Losing everything has left me not only displaced but deeply shaken. Starting over is never easy, and doing so after such an immense loss feels nearly impossible without help.
Your kindness and generosity can make an immeasurable difference in helping me rebuild my life. Every dollar, every share, and every kind word brings me closer to stability and hope. Whether it’s $5, $50, or just sharing my story with your network, your support means the world to me.
Thank You
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my story. Thank you for your compassion, your support, and your belief in me during this incredibly trying time. With your help, I know I can rise from this tragedy and build a brighter future.
Gratefully,
Layn Beggs
