LED Robotics is a competitive robotics club based out of the New Port Richey area. We operate out of Wendell Krinn Technical High School, a Title 1 school.
Since our club’s founding in 2017, our teachers, mentors, and students have used robotics as a lens to demonstrate the incredible value in the creativity, knowledge, and problem-solving abilities engineering principles require.
Our club has competitive teams in the VEX Robotics Competition and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) for our students to participate in, we helped start and continue to mentor the only FIRST Lego League in Pasco County at a nearby Elementary School, and host or participate in local community and STEM outreach events where we showcase everything from our competition robots to our robotic T-Shirt cannon.
We do our best to build relationships with local businesses and industry leaders to help us accomplish our mission. Relationships with our sponsors allow us to acquire services, finances, and materials that we couldn’t continue functioning without! We love our sponsors, and our relationships with them give our students a unique opportunity to build experience networking and introduce them to the vast and varied business landscape we live in.
Throughout their tenure in the club, our students gain technical skills in CAD, mechanical and electrical engineering, computer science, and manufacturing (using modern rapid prototyping and more traditional toolsets). This real-world experience complements our students’ existing formal education and allows for a much smoother transition into industry workforces. We have frequently sourced internships to sponsors through our club, fostering even closer relationships with our partners and empowering our students with relevant workforce experience.
We’re currently nearing the end of our club’s 6th season competing in FRC with this year's challenge: Charged Up, and our 35 extremely passionate students have been working tirelessly since it began in January to put together our most impressive robot-to-date: Banshee. Since then, each of our students have put over 200 hours of their own time outside of school to facilitate this club’s showings with an amazing robot at two Regional Competitions in Central and North Florida.
In the Tallahassee Regional, our team managed to shine brighter than the other 38 robotics teams in attendance from all over the country (and some from abroad!), take home the winner’s trophy, several awards, and a qualification for the FRC World Championship!
We’re extremely proud of our students and their extraordinary dedication to have achieved such a magnificent accomplishment! But in order to truly see the fruits of their labor we need your help!
Your donation will help pay for the $5,000 World Championship registration, transportation from FL to TX, hotel lodging, food, and additional costs involved in giving these kids the chance to attend this once in a lifetime experience.
We cannot possibly thank you enough for your donations! We appreciate you so much!
