Help Le'Ecia Thrive & Recover From Endometriosis Surgery

Hi! I'm Jin! I'm raising money for my dear loved one Le'Ecia, aka my wifey / chosen fam. We are going together with her family to Greece in November, to support her in receiving and healing from a laproscopic excision surgery for her endometriosis, with specialist Dr. Konstantinos Kyriakopoulos.

It's difficult enough to have to deal with the emotional and mental gymnastics of preparing for an emotionally charged surgery. But on top of that, we are traveling to another country for thee procedure and recovery, and she is doing all of this while navigating being a parent to a 5-year-old sweetheart, being a birth worker, and a working artist who is navigating finances largely through grants and contract work (which, as many of us know, is very hit or miss with consistency).

Le'Ecia is someone who shows up for me and the people in her life with such devotion and solidity. She has such a big, soft heart, and is someone whose love is a tangible life-shaping force in my life. She's scrappy, and has always made ends meet, but this procedure is a big deal that she has spent a long time moving towards, and she deserves to not just survive but thrive, and to be able to focus on being cared for emotionally and mentally and have some financial security to make it through the next few months.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with endometriosis, it fucking sucks. It is painful, fatigue-inducing, and affects your whole menstrual cycle and reproductive health. She has been in pain with endo for a long time, and she really deserves not only reprieve from this pain, but also to be wrapped in community love for this healing process. We have a right to have access to competent reproductive health care. They are having to travel to Greece for this procedure because the US medical system is ass. Reproductive health is a big deal. Black reproductive health is a big deal. Black queer reproductive health is a big, big fucking deal, and I want a future where GFMs for medical support aren't a reality anymore. But! Here we are, so we must do what we must do.

The money raised with this GFM will help cover the costs of rent, food for her and her family, and help cushion them financially while we take off of work and move away from our lives for a little to be there for her procedure. For those of us who understand what it means to live paycheck to paycheck, and to not know where our money might be coming from in a few months, it would be a lifesaver and game changer to have this cushion of care.
