HELP LEGRAND KITCHEN RELOCATE

I opened LeGrand Kitchen eight years ago as a 450 square foot diner with 16 seats. During those years, the restaurant doubled in size, expanding next door into Ed’s Barbershop. About two years later I opened Shiptown (and Hoyt’s Luncheonette) a few doors down. Ultimately, I decided to concentrate on one business and am still striving to provide great food and hospitality for our city. 

 

These establishments and ventures were opened without investors or silent partners. LeGrand is a DIY restaurant. I believe that no matter how fancy the interior and decor is, the only thing that really matters is good food and a comfortable seat.

Recently, the landlord announced she is closing her hair salon on December 31, 2022, and the building will be for sale. The Highland Park area is one of the hottest Norfolk spots and the asking price reflects the current market. LeGrand Kitchen will relocate in early 2023. 

We have located a familiar Riverview spot that would allow LeGrand a smooth transition without much down time. I am asking our loyal customers and the surrounding community to help with this move. All money raised will be used in securing the location, start up costs, and employee compensation during the transition period. 

 

Times have been tough for restaurants, and the past couple years were a real blow to the whole industry financially. Being a small independent restaurant has proved super trying, tiring and difficult from day one and even harder the last couple of years. Still, it’s what I love doing most. Losing the building I have cooked in for over 8 years is a huge disappointment but I do look forward to shifting our model and continuing to be part of the community.
