Help Leo Get a Hearing Aid
Donation protected
UPDATE: Okay WOW. So I went to work this morning and got a text from Unk that we met our goal within the first 12 hours! Then I come home and saw that we made the total amount needed to purchase the rechargeable ReSound Omnia hearing aid I wanted!
So if you're reading this, WE ARE NO LONGER IN NEED OF DONATIONS! Mission accomplished! Thanks to all of you who threw down. You have no idea how much this means to us.
MUTUAL AID FOREVER.
Howdy folks, friends, and family. My name is Leo, and I am a middle school teacher. As you may or may not have heard (no pun intended), on June 27, 2022, I suddenly, without any warning, lost all hearing in my right ear. The doctors say I suffered “Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss” (SSNHL), with no clear cause. Basically, I’m severely and permanently deaf in one ear.
I’ve been adjusting well to my new disability, and I will always grieve this huge loss because as a classroom teacher, coach, music guy, and general lover of sound, being able to hear still is very important to my life.
I’m excited to say that a couple of weeks ago my doctor finally allowed me to test out hearing aids (they wanted me to wait). When I heard my voice fully again, I couldn’t help but tear up. To be honest, having hearing assistance technology would change my life. Unfortunately, after all the doctor visits, tests, treatments, and bills, I’ve spent a huge amount of my savings, and my insurance doesn’t cover hearing aids.
So, I’m reaching out for help. For only one hearing aid, it costs over $3200! With your help, I am hoping to raise at least $2500 of it by the end of the month. I know it’s a lot to ask for, but anything helps. Thanks, and I appreciate you all.
