Help Leonard recover after medical emergencies

Kind, loving people of Humboldt County and beyond:

You may know Leonard Melendez from "Leo's Plants" at the Arcata Farmer's Market on Saturdays or you may be lucky enough to be family or a close friend of this amazing man but regardless of how you know him right now he could really use our help!!!!

On Friday July 15th, 2022 Leonard suffered a stroke. He was home alone and had fallen and couldn't get up, he was confused and scared and was unable to operate his phone but thankfully was able to crawl to his neighbor's house who called 911. He was taken to Mad River by ambulance and then flown to Mercy Medical Center by helicopter. By Saturday evening Leonard was making great improvements and is expected to continue to improve. He is up and walking with assistance but has some weakness on his left side, he's talking with some slowed speech but no memory deficits which is all great news!

The bad news though.... Leonard just had a major surgery 2 months ago for a hernia repair and his medical bills from that are just starting to come in. He will be unable to work for at least a few months until he completes rehab to regain all his motor functions. And now he will have even more unexpected medical bills that are sure to be very expensive.

Leonard is such a loving, kind, and generous man! Our wish is that he can recover from all this and not have to worry about the financial burden while he recovers. Any monetary donations would be greatly appreciated and if you are unable to donate then please consider sending prayers of heath and healing for Leonard and all his loved ones!
