Help Leslie and Markel Overcome Health Challenges

My name is Lynne Victoria and I am writing the introduction for this Fundraiser for my big sister Leslie, and my brother-in-law Markel Leland. They have a hard time asking for help, so I’m doing it for them. They need us.

It’s been a rough couple of years since they lost the revenue from the retail stores they’d put decades into building.

In their late 60’s, facing their 70’s, they’re tough good people, working hard, moving ahead, still compelled to create every day.

After the unexpected closing of their stores, they have bravely gone back to the demanding and rigorous world of outdoor markets to sell their work and pay their bills.

Unfortunately, the hits keep on coming.

Leslie slipped on a puddle in their house on August 1st and broke her knee cap. She underwent surgery to repair it last week. She’ll be laid up for 8 weeks and then faces physical therapy for months after that. Markel has been battling his own health crises and is facing surgery this fall on “man stuff”.

Outdoor markets, surgeries, and broken knee caps don’t mix.

Medical bills and living costs are piling up. It will be awhile until they can work like they’re used to. They are SO anxious to get back to doing what they do best.

The funds will be used to cover their bills while they convalesce, pay medical costs, replace Leslie’s broken sewing machine so she can continue making her amazing bag line.

On top of all this, they are also facing a change in their living situation and will be moving their studio and household by mid-October around the same time the cast comes off and physical therapy begins.
