Help Me Become the Middle School Math Teacher of Your Dreams (Or At Least, My Dreams)
Hey there! I’m Lexi, and yes, you read that right—at 43, I’m on the brave (and slightly crazy) path to become a middle school math teacher. I know, I know. It’s not every day someone decides to jump into graduate school at this stage in life. I promise, I’ve checked for a midlife crisis, but it's just me, my passion for education, and a desire to make a real difference in students' lives.
Here’s the deal: after years of personal growth, overcoming some big obstacles, and plenty of self-reflection, I’ve realized that I’ve always had a calling to help others. In particular, I want to be that teacher who not only helps kids ace their math tests but who also creates an environment where they feel safe, supported, and valued—especially in middle school, which can be a really tough time for young people.
The problem? Grad school isn't cheap. While I’m fully committed to my future students, I can’t commit to more student loans. I’ve already mastered the art of debt (thank you, past loans!), and I’m trying to avoid more of it. So, I’m turning to you. Yes, I’m starting a GoFundMe. It’s a bit unorthodox, I know, but friends have encouraged me to give it a shot—what’s the worst that could happen?
Your support will help me pay for tuition, books, and other expenses as I work towards my goal of becoming a teacher who not only teaches but sees each student. And trust me, your donation won’t just be an investment in my future—it’s an investment in the future of the kids I’ll be teaching, giving them the tools and the emotional support they need to thrive.
Middle school is often a time when students face difficult challenges, both academically and personally. My mission is to give them a place to belong, to show them they’re capable of far more than they realize, and to help them navigate these transformative years. I believe that if students have someone who truly believes in them, it can change everything.
So, if you’re able to donate, know that you’re helping me fulfill my dream of becoming the kind of teacher I wish I had when I was that age—one who understands that success isn’t just about grades but about the growth of the whole person.
Thank you for considering supporting me—whether it’s with a donation or by sharing this page with others. Anything helps, and I appreciate all of you for being part of this crazy, exciting journey.
You’ve got this. I’ve got this. We’ve got this!
Thank you so much for your generosity and support!
