Help Lia with Vaccine-Related Medical Expenses

We're all in this together!  Hello, everyone. The last few years have been trying to say the least, and many of us were relieved to receive the protection of a vaccine. While overwhelmingly effective and hugely important, we all knew going in that the vaccines carried risk for a very small percentage of the population.

Unfortunately, my dear friend Lia, one of the most caring humans you will ever meet, is one of the people who has had long-term, adverse effects from the vaccine. Lia got the vaccine in April. Immediately upon receiving it, she experienced enough numbness, nausea, and shakiness that she was transferred to the ER. The numbness and tingling continued on and off for several days. She was later diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), a rare disorder where (as I understand it) the body's immune system attacks its nervous system, but that diagnosis was inconclusive. Today, Lia uses a wheelchair to leave the house, cannot bear weight (even her body weight) for more than a handful of minutes, regularly experiences burning in her limbs, and has a headache every day. If GBS is correct, she should hopefully recover in 1-3 years with different treatments.

As you can imagine, the cost of Lia's various medical appointments, tests, and treatments is astronomical, compounded by the loss of income the family is sustaining as Lia cannot work. Infuriatingly, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Fund does not cover covid vaccine injuries.

So, the way I see it, if we all wanted everyone else to take on a certain amount of risk and get vaccinated for the greater good, I feel that those of us who benefited without complications should certainly help out those who weren't as fortunate. This GoFundMe is an effort to relieve some of the financial pressure on Lia's family, and ensure that she gets the best treatment and maximum rest possible.
