Chicago police friends and family have created this donation page to support Castro fiancée and 4 year old son who were left behind. Castro was a dedicated member to the Chicago Police Marine Corps League and a member of Chicago FOP Lodge 7.
Officer Jose Castro was a 29 year old, who joined the Chicago Police Department in May of 2017. He was assigned to the 15th district and worked on the tactical team. He was always willing to give a helping hand and always there to backup his fellow officers. He was a happy, helpful, and intelligent young man. He was very funny he was seen walking around the district with a smile on his face, and always making others smile.
Castro joined the Marines after high school and served 4 years and deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In 2014 Castro met his beautiful fiancée Kathlin Montesinos-Pulido who is a Chicago police officer in the 11th district. Castro and his fiancée both graduated from Western Illinois University.
His hobbies were working out, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great father to his 4 year old son Liam and he spent most of his time with him, and made sure he was always the happiest kid in the world. Officer Castro was a well-rounded person who was respected and well-liked by many.
Castro is survived by his fiancée, his son, his Mother, Father, brother, and his two sisters.
