Help Lianne afford the surgery she needs
Donation protected
Again, thank you all! Lianne is recovering from surgery and her care team all say she is doing very well! Your support and love go a long way toward helping her through this time! I cannot fully express my gratitude.
Lianne is our daughter Jenny's best friend, her "little sis." They lived in the same orphanage in Shiyan, China, until 1998, when Lianne was adopted at age six and our daughter adopted a few months afterward, at age seven. They have been close friends and confidants for 20 years.
Currently, Lianne is working part time at a Providence Hospital in Oregon, and finishing her MS in clinical nutrition. Two years ago, she began experiencing severe gastric symptoms, including debilitating pain, difficulty eating and digesting food, fatigue, and rapid weight loss. She was ultimately diagnosed with gastroparesis, colonic inertia, and small bowel dismotility, and had her entire colon surgically removed, and an ostomy placed, to allow her to eliminate safely and comfortably.
This surgery was apparently successful, and a year later, Lianne had a second operation to reverse the ileostomy, in hopes that she could resume normal living. Instead, her condition worsened, and she is forced to rely on a feeding tube for her nutrient intake. Right now, she can take in only about 400 calories a day.
To prevent her condition from further deterioration, Lianne is now scheduled for emergency surgery, in mid-April of this year, to put in another ostomy.
Unfortunately, Lianne has no personal or sick time left, and insurance will not cover all of her medical, post-operative, and ostomy maintenance expenses. She also needs to meet the expenses of daily life if she is unable to work for a while after surgery.
Our new goal of $3500 should cover most of her anticipated expenses and give her some breathing space until she is healthy enough to return to work and finish her schooling.
Thank you so much for you support. Contributions in any amount will be greatly appreciated. Let's work to help Lianne put her life back together!
