Help Lilith Bean Overcome Glaucoma Surgery

Unfortunately little Lilith has glaucoma in her left eye and has gone blind due to the glaucoma eye pressure. Medications aren’t working to reduce the pressure and the only next step to relieve her pain is to have her left eye removed.

She’s been diagnosed specifically with genetic glaucoma. Which means she will eventually get it in her right eye as well and will at some point very likely be completely blind. The vet said this could take a couple months or could be a few years before that happens. She said the spike of eye pressure is random and that dogs can go completely blind from glaucoma within 24 hours of the pressure spiking. Which is what they think happened to Lilith. Additionally, she said that huskies are predisposed to getting glaucoma and specifically light eyes. As you all know Lilith beans has the brightest blue eyes you’ve ever seen.

Lilith is scheduled for surgery to remove her left eye in the coming week and we’d appreciate any well wishes, love, and prayers for her to recover quickly. The surgery is extremely expensive at about $2,500. We elected for her eye to be sown shut rather than a fake eye to reduce complications later. So if in the future you see Lilith winking in all her photos…you know why.

It’s been an incredibly hard time for Ben and I. We love our Lilith bean so much and although we are glad it’s not cancer…we are heart broken that our 6 year old baby girl is going to lose her eye.

We’ve been going through a lot as I’m sure most of you are in the last few weeks. Since I am unsure about my job and if I’ll be laid off in the coming weeks; as well as we have to move out of our townhome next month; we are accepting any help, donations, advice, etc. we can get to help our sweet floofy girl. Therefore we have created this go fund me account for Lilith’s surgery and recovery. The $2,500 is only for the surgery not including any medications for post op. But literally anything given would be massively appreciated.

Thank you for everyone who personally knows Lilith and has always been so sweet and kind to her. Because of all of you that is why she is such an amazing baby. As we enter this challenging next phase we are nervous but hopeful we can get her better and prevent the other eye from going blind (as long as we can at least…)
