- Hi, my name is Rhonda Ogden and I'm helping to raise funds for my sweet friend Lillian Stallings who was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive Stage 4 Soft Tissue Sarcoma on July 27th , 2023. Although she and her husband ,Carey, enrolled with an insurance provider on July 12th, they were informed that their coverage would not go into effect until August 1st. Lillian has been a lifelong asthmatic and was diagnosed with COPD twelve years ago. She saw a new pulmonologist who scheduled her for a CT scan on July 19th. On July 22nd her pulmonologist called to inform them that Lillian needed to go to the Emergency Room and be admitted to the hospital ASAP because there appeared to be a large blood clot in the right ventricle of her heart. She remained in the hospital for 8 days. After many scans ,tests and biopsy the medical team gave the devastating diagnosis and grim prognosis that she had a rare form of cancer (only 1% of cancers are sarcomas). Since their insurance wasn't in effect the hospital and medical bills were not covered and are now are their 100% responsibility. Lillian consulted with the Sarcoma Specialist at UF Health and Mayo Clinic. Neither Specialist could offer any hope or viable treatment options. Lillian is now receiving treatment at utopiacancercenter.com in Tampa, FL. five days a week. Her health insurance carrier will not pay for any of her treatments. Everything is out of pocket. The high expense of treatment, travel, lodging ,and meals is not what she needs to dwell on right now while she is trying to beat this disease. The expenses are mounting with great speed but I feel with your gift of a donation she can concentrate on getting better without worry or stress and keep a positive mindset for her overall health. First and foremost, Lillian is a Christian, wife to Carey for 40 years, mom to 5 grown children and Mimi to 2 precious little girls and another bundle of joy on the way .She has given so much strength, love, encouragement and of herself for her family and friends now and over the years , that there is simply no room for cancer right now. I have known Lillian for 32 years, her family lived right next door to us at one time . She is one to never ask for help but was always there for others.
