Lily needs help with surgery and hormones!

Like all trans people, I have no reasonable access to publicly-funded healthcare. Facing extensive waiting lists and administrative barriers has left me no option but to turn to prohibitively expensive private healthcare.

Whilst navigating often hostile and transphobic workplaces and unemployment, I have already spent years paying for my transition out of my own pocket. I am asking for your support to help me to continue taking hormones and to access surgery.

Anything you donate will help me with my goal of surgery by next year and help me live a happier, safer and more fulfilled life. I am asking for £8000 to help cover surgery and its associated costs, and to maintain my access to hormones whilst I work to find stable employment.

Who even is Lily?!

Lily is a trans woman living in Glasgow with her toothless black cat, Tito.

"Lily is an extremely caring, funny and sweet person who I’m proud to call my partner. Anyone who’s spent time with her can attest to how quick-witted, funny and sweet she is. She is a musician and DJ with a passion and commitment to building community around music, and became a big part of the queer DIY scene in Sheffield, putting on the extremely fun and silly night, Babycakes for weird queers with the amazing Gut Level.

Around a year ago Lily made the move from Sheffield, her home of five years, to Glasgow, having fallen in love with the city after visiting and seeking a place to settle down with a vibrant trans community.

She is the best cook I know by a long way, and is so giving with everything she makes and teaching others too. When I think of Lily, I picture her listening to (often silly) music in the kitchen with a glass in wine in hand whipping up the most delicious meal like it’s nothing.

She is one of the most giving people I know, and will go out of her way to help anyone, not just those that she is close to, and she inspires me to be a better person with her ability to care for others.

Lily is a musician and DJ who makes and plays super fun music that I love to dance to!

Some of her favourite things are: cooking slay food for her friends, swimming outside and feeding birds in the park.

Lily radiates a warmth, kindness and optimism and spending time with her always leaves me excited and hopeful for the future. She's also really funny and makes me laugh so much!

Lily generously provides advice and emotional support to the people around her. She has been thinking of this surgery for many years now, but has not yet made the vulnerable decision to ask for help in this way.. Now she’s asking for your help !
