Let's help two local chess talents compete internationally

Hi, my name is Tom and I am fundraising for Lily and Renata Duarte. I run the SMAjedrez Chess Club in San Miguel de Allende. The girls live in San Miguel and the club has mentored them since they competed in their first local tournament. In two and a half short years, they have become accomplished chess players. Renata, who is 10, is the Mexican National Champion for girls in the 10 and under age group. Her sister, Lily, who is 12, tied for first in the girls 14 and under group but was awarded second place after the tie breaking rules were applied. Because of these and other achievements, Lily is ranked 10th of all the girls born in South, Central and North America in 2010. Renata is ranked 12 of all the girls born in 2014 in those regions. Both girls are exceptional chess players and are currently qualified to play in four international youth championships this year; the World Cup, the Pan American and the North American tournaments. They have selected the Pan American Scholastic Chess Tournament to be held in Paraguay in October. International competition is the best way for them to expand their skills and showcase their talent, but it is expensive. They have to pay their own airfare, hotel bills and tournament fees. Their family is supporting them in this competition but they need additional funding. SMAjedrez has set a goal of $3,000 US. Lily and Renata have accomplished remarkable things in a short time and this funding would allow them to continue the exciting journey they have just begun. Please contribute if you can.
