Help Lily With Her Eye Surgery

My precious pup, Lily, needs eye surgery.  Unfortunately, my family is going through uncertain financial times, as I know many are. I have never had to set up a fundraiser for myself before, so this is hard.

Aug 1st, my very active 14yr old dog, woke up unable to open her right eye. We took her to the vet and had all the tests we could done. They diagnosed her with glaucoma in the right eye. They also discovered that she had some detachment in the eye. Not sure if it was caused by an injury or other issue. We began treating the eye with meds every 8 hours. We made an appointment with the Ophthalmologist ( eye specialist) as soon as we could get her in, Sept 9th. After seeing them yesterday it was clear that the eye needs to be removed. The eye no longer functions at all and is causing Lily discomfort from the pressure. There is a threat of infection as long as she has the eye, so antibiotic drops were added, as well as an additional med to try to reduce the eye pressure. The surgery cost to remove the eye will be $2300, we need help with $1800 of it.

Lily has been by my side since she was 5 months old. Lily has helped to foster homeless dogs and kittens over the years. She has also lured lost dogs to the safety of our car so we could get them back home. Always by my side, she has calmed my nerves and been a reason to hike through the beautiful Pacific Northwest forests that surround us. I know she is a senior dog now, but her quality of life is still fantastic. She walks and plays fetch in the park everyday, unless she is swimming in the lake of course. Her blood work and heart are in tip top shape, her left eye is in great health. So eventhough she turns 15 years on November 10th, I know there are many more walks to take and balls to catch in her future.
