Help Lin Beat Breast Cancer
Donation protected
On June 23, 2023 our dear friend Lin was diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) Breast Cancer.
She started her first round of chemo on August 5th and will have her last round on November 18th, for a total of 6 rounds.
Her double mastectomy is booked for December 15th at Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton. During this time, they will use a flap from her abdomen (TRAM flap) to help prepare her for reconstructive surgery. This is the most common way of creating the new breast and is called a free flap. The surgeon completely cuts away the skin and fat from the abdomen. They then connect the flap's blood vessels to blood vessels in the chest wall or armpit.
Recovery for a surgery such as this is intensive for about 6-8 weeks and she will have four drains for some time to remove fluid - for up to two weeks of that, pending all goes well.
Once she she is recovered from her surgery she will have 25 rounds of Radiation. Then 12 months after her recovery from that she will then go in for her reconstructive surgery.
For anyone who knows her, they know how incredibly kind hearted and strong willed she is. I am asking for her friends and family to help her, Andrew, and Lucas out. She is feeling the fatigues of chemo right now and needs to be able to lean on her support system - as she calls it, her Army.
With your support, we can alleviate the extra financial stresses that come with a diagnoses such as this. <3
