Help Lina Escape Abuse and Find Safety

Hello, I'm Lina.

I have endured a lifetime of abuse and neglect. My mother lost legal custody of me when I was only 2 years old, and my grandparents adopted me. My needs were not met, as the pantries and fridge were padlocked whenever they were away or asleep, so I did not have access to food. Everything I did was heavily monitored, from who I interacted with, to what I did at school or at home. My grandfather was also physically abusive. When I turned 19, I was thrown out of their house and had nowhere to go except back to my ex-drug addicted mother. We lived in poverty with hardly any money for hygiene essentials and food, and by December of 2018, I had tried to take my own life. After getting stitches and having my stomach pumped, I stayed at a facility for a week. There, I met my now ex-husband. I was mentally fragile at the time, 21 and he was 50, and he had manipulated me into being with him. This snowballed into a 5-year marriage filled with mental, emotional, physical, sexual, and financial abuse. Therapists and psychiatrists I've seen have all said I survived one of the worst cases of psychological warfare that they have ever seen. I also lost my 2 dogs when fleeing from him. Fast forward to 2024, I am back living with my mother, sleeping on the floor of her living room, having over half of my food stamps taken by her every month.

But she has made it abundantly clear I am not welcome in their home anymore, between constant yelling, insulting and being forced to not cook for myself despite the fact a portion of food for me is either not prepared or is actively dangerous for me in most cases. I don't even have the ability to drive anywhere. My mother has also said that she's kicking me out of the house due to being seen as a financial liability, that she can no longer afford to take care of me. She knows I am disabled both physically and mentally and cannot take care of myself on my own. I have severe agoraphobia, BPD, OCD, generalized anxiety, type 2 diabetes, pancreatitis, NAFLD (and severe liver scarring/damage that it does not function properly), along with minor brain damage. I am unable to properly get a job because of this, and my mother was the one who urged me to apply for disability; I am yet to be accepted for it.
