Lina is a young mother of two—a five-month-old baby and a two-year-old toddler—facing unbearable hardship. Her home in the north of the strip has been destroyed, and she and her family are currently seeking refuge in a UNRWA school. But now, they are being forced to leave by March 1st, with nowhere to go and no money to rent a room.

A Mother on the Brink of Despair

Her husband was injured by flying shrapnel, damaging his left eye and causing constant pain. Since the injury, he has withdrawn, struggling with his own trauma while Lina carries the heavy burden of parenting alone.

The thought of moving into a freezing tent terrifies her. Seven babies have already died of hypothermia in enclave's encampments this past week. She fears for her infant’s life, knowing that without warmth and shelter, her baby could be next.

"I am like any mother in this world who wants to provide everything her children and family need, but circumstances have put me in a situation where I cannot even provide a shoe for my daughter. I cannot provide the simplest needs, so how will I build my family? I am very sad."
