Help Linda and Shawn Rebuild Their Home and Lives
An Update From the Family:
First, I want to thank everyone who has supported my mom and brother so far—your generosity has truly been a blessing during these incredibly difficult months.
As we near the close of this campaign on December 10th, I wanted to share an important update. While we’re still working to push closer to our fundraising goal, we’ve recently been hit with another challenge: my mom has been diagnosed with liver cancer. On top of this, her trailer remains heavily damaged, and the rental company has yet to provide any updates or assistance in addressing the situation.
I know it’s a lot to ask, especially during the holiday season, but if you’re able to share this campaign or contribute further, it would mean the world to us. Additionally, if anyone has advice or connections for legal support regarding her housing issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you again for your kindness and for helping us navigate these difficult times. Your support is a light for us in this storm.
—Allen

On July 15th, a devastating tornado tore through Lake County, leaving Linda and Shawn Moore (and their two cats Silver “Lil Mama” and Shogi) without a livable home. Their mobile home suffered significant roof damage, making it uninhabitable. Without homeowners insurance, they face the overwhelming burden of covering all repair costs on their own. The Red Cross provided only $350, and with no state of emergency declared, they have limited access to additional aid.
Meet the Family: Linda is a resilient mother on SSI, battling multiple health issues doing everything she can to support her family despite her health challenges. Her son, Shawn, who is on the autism spectrum, works part-time but struggles to find full-time employment. Together, they live at the poverty level, making it impossible to afford the necessary repairs and temporary housing.
Since 2021, the Moore family has lost over a dozen close family members, including four of their uncles (David, Robert, James, and Marion) and their beloved Daddy/Grandaddy, John T Moore. Beyond the devastation this grief has caused, it has been a struggle to maintain income and secure housing, as they no longer have the support system of immediate family.
The Challenges They Face:
Immediate Needs: They need to cover the cost of a new roof, multiple windows, water and electrical repairs, cabinets, and a fridge, as well as gas for transportation and food. The legal process to address the damage caused by a neighbor's tree will take time and money they don't have. Since July, dealing with the damage and disruption to their lives has already cost nearly $10,000.
Ongoing Costs: Despite their situation, they must continue paying the mortgage and lot rent, further straining their resources.
How Your Support Will Help:
Your generous donations will go directly towards:
- Repairing the trailer roof and other structural damage (Roof estimate: $13,000)
- Replacing essential household items like cabinets and the fridge (Kitchen Cabinets estimate: $3,236)
- Covering temporary housing and storage costs (Cost to date: $5,399.86)
- Providing food and other basic necessities (Cost to date: $2,340
- Supporting legal expenses to recover further damages
Every Dollar Counts: Linda and Shawn need our help to get back on their feet. They can't do it alone, and that's where you come in. Whether you can contribute financially or by sharing their story, every act of kindness makes a difference.
Please donate and share this campaign to help the Moore family rebuild their home and lives. Together, we can share hope and stability with them in this challenging time.
Thank you!! <3
