Help Linda Bean cope with Early Onset Alzheimer's
Donation protected
Hi- this is my wife of 35 years, Linda Bean, 56, mother of two, grandmother of 4. Linda was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease in 2014 and never returned to work. In September 2019 Linda was admitted to Ellery Arbor Memory Care when she could no longer take care of herself. She needs help with bathing, putting on her clothes, feeding and grooming. She can barely talk or walk. Over last few months, Linda has made several visits to the hospital, three occasions for abscesses, one time for a broken toe, once for COVID (post vaccination) and twice for suspected seizures. As her dementia progresses, it is now becoming more necessary for Linda to have a personal assistant to monitor her, as she doesn't understand what she is doing when she removes her bandages and IV lines like she has done during her past hospital/rehab center visits. We are currently paying $4,500 per month for her to stay at the memory care and would like to hire a personal assistant to watch her when she is awake to prevent her from hurting herself. We recently paid a sitting agency $20 per hour to watch her while she rehabbed for an abscess surgery. I am hoping with your help that we can raise enough to keep her at the memory care for at least another year and try to get some extra help for her. Her insurance covers most of her medical needs but not her rooming at the memory care, or any sitters. She will need more supervision as her dementia progresses, but we don't know how much longer we can sustain that support; she is still very young and has been active and healthy up until recently.
