Help Linda Recover from Hit and Run

Mike and Linda Rushak took their beloved dog Koda for their regular morning walk Wednesday, December 9th. They never made it home.  A few steps from their own front door they were struck from behind by an SUV.  Koda was dragged under the vehicle for several yards and was bloodied and knocked unconscious.  Linda was thrown over the hood of the vehicle into the windshield and onto the street.  The vehicle missed Mike by fractions of an inch as he sensed the car at the last second and attempted to pull his wife out of harm's way.  The driver fled the scene leaving Linda near death and her family and community in shock.

Mike and Linda are awesome people, as anyone who meets them will tell you.  Mike is a veteran of the Chesapeake police force, having served our city faithfully for over 30 years.  Linda and their two girls are his life.

Linda is recovering slowly with a long way to go.  She has multiple injuries which will require months if not years of therapy.  There is no way to predict when or if she will be able to return to work.  Family expenses continue to accumulate while they navigate the absence of their heart and soul.

Tina and I have known the Rushaks for over 20 years.  We are starting this fundraiser because we love this family and we want to help them with all the expenses that come with this terrible event.  We know there are many people in this community who feel the same way we do.  Everything donated to this campaign will go to Mike and Linda and their daughters and be directly deposited into their bank account.
