Help Lindsay Foster with her legal fees

My name is Stuart Seemungal and I’m raising funds to help my friend Lindsay Foster pay legal fees related to the loss of a court case in Italy around the use of an image she created in 2014 of two fathers holding their new baby for the first time that went viral on the internet. Although the image was largely positively received by the world, hate groups quickly latched on to it and started using it to promote their messages of hate towards the LGBTQ+ community. A particular group in Italy reposted the photos with hate messages on them and it was abundantly clear that it violated hate speech laws in that country. Several law firms approached Lindsay and the two fathers, Frankie and BJ, offering to take their case on Pro Bono to fight it in court. After 7 long years, with many obstacles such as language and physical distance, the case was heard in court. The net outcome for Lindsay is that she was not entitled to monetary compensation as she’s not in the photos and it looks like the lawyers did not argue the case of her copyrighted work being used in this way.

As a result her portion of the case was dismissed and she is now responsible to pay court costs in the amount of nearly €4,500. I have set the goal of this fundraiser to $8,000 CAD to cover off admin fees and any currency fluctuations - Lindsay has stated that if there is more money donated than what she needs she will donate it to a Pride charity.
