Help Lindsay & her Emotional Support Animals Find Stability

Hello there, my name is Tamara and I am running this fundraiser for my friend Lindsay.

Lindsay is a highly intelligent, multifaceted, and impactful Public Speaker and Advocate, who is currently in need of support while facing significant crisis and housing instability.

Lindsay has been facing an uphill battle that began 2 and a half years ago, when her employer at the time went out of business abruptly and failed to pay its employees wages. While in operation, the company neglected to pay into unemployment insurance, making it so that Lindsay was not only left unemployed (by no fault of her own), but also could not claim unemployment benefits, which began a snowball of financial hardship and difficulty recouping.

Lindsay has held employment and “hustled”, doing what she could for financial security since then, but with astronomical rises in housing and other costs of living paired with wages that didn’t match those increases, Lindsay was plunged into a state of extreme stress and instability about a week ago. In that span of time, she has lost the car that she owned and narrowly escaped eviction from her apartment due to predatory landlord practices and only being less than 2 months behind on rent.

Now, she's facing homelessness with her two beloved emotional support animals, and bouncing between unsustainable, temporary housing.

Living day-to-day in highly distressing conditions, including spending a night in high heat with her dogs, has continuously taken a toll on Lindsay. Recently, in response to the frequent instability and the stress that she’s under, her 2 dogs got into a fight, and Lindsay was injured while breaking it up. She has gone days without eating. Her phone screen is also broken and continues to get worse, impacting her ability to communicate effectively. Additionally, as an adoptee and in her current vulnerable state, Lindsay has been subject to harmful manipulation tactics by people under the guise of “support” which have further exacerbated her mental, emotional, and overall wellbeing.

As someone who has experienced complex trauma and is actively but narrowly overcoming symptoms daily, Lindsay is doing her best to navigate these challenges, but she needs relief from the constant instability to regain control of her life and plan her next steps. Your support can provide her with the stability and resources she needs to move forward with confidence. Some of Lindsay’s immediate and short term needs are to:

1. Fund a stay of at least 3 days without the stress and risk of having to find a new environment each day.

2. Raise funds for food for at least 3 days.

3. Find temporary foster care or respite care for her large breed dogs, as she potentially has a more stable housing option available in a nearby city, but it does not allow pets.

4. Raise funds for a new, affordable phone or to fix her current phone screen.
