Help Yaelisa Fight Illegal Foreclosure

After fighting a 3 year battle with Deutsche Bank and their mortgage company, Emmy award-winning flamenco dancer Yaelisa and her husband, guitarist Jason McGuire “El Rubio” are at risk of losing their home/work studio of 18 years to the bank. They were slammed into a draconian mortgage after their previous lender, Countrywide, went bankrupt in the 2008 mortgage crisis. The new mortgage had an interest escalation clause so the mortgage went from 3% to 6.55%. They repeatedly followed procedures for 4 separate loan modifications and were denied each time with varying fraudulent excuses that included letters closing their file, letters fraudulently asking for unidentified and continuing docs the company never specified, offered forbearance during the Covid19 pandemic, followed with more denials. At the height of the pandemic, they were then asked for $88,000 to settle, while SPS obfuscated and denied relief based on faulty reasons. We have learned that this methodology is used against honest homeowners and business owners to keep them in delinquency because servicers and banks make more money this way. This business model is being used against millions of Americans around the country, and nobody is talking about it. Because the bank has placed a foreclosure sale date of Dec. 28, 2021, they were forced to start preparing the house to sell immediately so they do not lose the tiny equity they may have and are temporarily living in their former dance studio with four adults and two dogs.

Yaelisa and Jason have been artistic models and pillars of the Bay Area community of artists for two decades, and have helped and supported numerous artists

and students over this period, not to mention business leaders who have provided steady employment to many of the area’s artists. They, like so many other families and citizens, have been fighting their bank alone until recently were apprised by a referred attorney they have a strong case for a lawsuit against Deutsche Bank, but need to raise the funds necessary to fight. They are being supported by civil rights attorneys Haddad/Sherwin LLP, and will be doing media interviews with local television to highlight this growing ‘epidemic’ of illegal foreclosures.
