Help Lisa Filbert keep Calm and fight Cancer
Donation protected
Whoever said winning isn't everything sure wasn't fighting cancer.
It has been almost two years since my sister Lisa received her diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is a type of blood cancer that will never go away. It is a lifetime battle of always putting things in place to avoid its devastating effects on the body.
For Lisa, it started with feeling exhausted, which persisted for several years. Eventually, her new PCP figured out by significant changes in blood work over the past four years that this could be Multiple Myeloma. Lisa is fortunate that the discovery of her cancer was at the beginning stage, which is referred to as smoldering. However, it has progressed to a more active state in the last six months. She has been undergoing the first stages of chemotherapy and is now recommended to receive a stem cell transplant.
She will have no immune system once this happens. This procedure is critical, and she will incur many financial costs by needing to put things in place to protect her from infection. Being a single mother of one son in college and another still in high school is challenging, let alone trying to figure out how to make things work with a significantly reduced income due to being on disability.
High cortisol levels produced from stress are the primary fuel for this type of blood cancer. Whatever you are willing to contribute to this fundraiser will help her reduce stress, allowing her to fight cancer.
My sister and I have received many phone calls from kind, caring people asking what I can do to help. The best way to help her is through prayer and donations.
I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read this and any consideration in donating. If you want to send Lisa a card or send a donation to her directly, please email me, and I will provide her address.
