Help Lisa Higuera with medical expenses

Lisa needs our help. She’s been struggling with female issues for years and it turns out that there is a large fibroid tumor (estimated 10lbs!!) in her uterus. Fibroid tumors are non-cancerous 99% of the time and none of the bloodwork she’s had indicates any of the markers for cancer (yay!). However, the large size of the tumor means that the surgery on April 3rd to remove it will be intense (full hysterectomy with a surgical team led by an oncologist) and the recovery time will be lengthy (6-8 weeks).

All of this medical information is overwhelming on its own, but additionally, because of the line of work she’s in, Lisa has no access to affordable health insurance, disability insurance, paid vacation, or sick leave. So, not only will she have to pay all of the impending medical bills, but also she will have to make it through 6-8 weeks of recovery with no income.
