Help Lisa Keep Fighting!

Our mom was first admitted to Frederick Memorial Hospital on September 7, 2021. Shortly after her arrival, she was placed on a breathing machine and was diagnosed with pneumothorax (lung collapse) and severe pneumonia. Surgery was required to insert tubes into both sides of her chest to allow the air between her lungs and chest cavity to be released. During her coma, there were two different times when she almost left us. She developed Mrsa while at FMH and times were very touch and go as we all continued to pray that she would fight this illness.

After a month and half hospital stay, Mom was moved to rehabilitation where things went further south. After a couple week stay in rehab, Mom returned to FMH where it was determined that she had an infection. At this point, FMH determined that there was nothing more they could do and that she would need to be transferred to another hospital specializing more in her area. After dreaded weeks of just trying to keep her comfortable and spirits high, Mom was transferred to Johns Hopkins University on October 31, 2021. Since arriving at JH's, they have worked intensely to get her to the point she could have the surgery she needed to get rid of the severe infection. Unfortunately due to her one lung only functioning at 40%, the surgery they were hoping to do was not able to happen but an alternative was completed on December 3, 2021.

Mom is still at Johns Hopkins recovering but has a long road of recovery and more surgeries ahead of her. The medical bills have started pouring in and the costs are astronomical. Her husband (Bob) has been at her side the entire time, keeping her sprits high, being her advocate and fighting for her care. This gofundme page is being created to assist with all the medical bills that are being received daily and that will continue as Mom continues to fight this horrible illness.
