An Update from Lisa: I wanted to take a moment to update you on how I’m doing. I’m healing well and feeling much better overall. I’ve even been able to return to work part-time, which feels great. Next week, I’ll begin three months of intensive chemotherapy followed by 12 months of immunotherapy, all in Gainesville, GA.
Your continuing support has meant the world to me, and I honestly can’t thank you enough.
With much love and gratitude❤️,
Lisa Kilby
Hi, our names are Marie Dunkle and Barbara Beckham, and we’re reaching out to ask for your support for our dear friend, fellow musician, and genuinely beautiful soul, Lisa Kilby. Lisa recently underwent major surgery at Emory Hospital in Atlanta and has since faced several subsequent hospitalizations. She has shown incredible strength and courage throughout this uncertain and challenging time, but her journey to recovery will be long and demanding.
Lisa is a talented singer, songwriter, and guitar player. (She wrote the music and lyrics and sings the song "Mountain Treasures," linked below on YouTube.) She is also a beloved bus driver at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School, where she cares for children like her own. Her love and kindness for animals are reflected in her menagerie of large and small pets, which brighten her days. Most importantly, Lisa is a devoted friend to so many in our community, always the first to lend a hand or share her music to lift others’ spirits. Now, she needs us.
Unfortunately, Lisa's recovery will prevent her from working for quite some time, putting a significant financial strain on her and her husband, Filmer. Filmer has been by Lisa’s side every step of the way and has had to miss work to support her through numerous hospitalizations, medical tests, and doctor appointments. The financial burden is overwhelming, especially as both jobs offer limited unpaid leave, and Lisa is now at the end of hers.
Because Lisa’s recovery will be lengthy, we seek to raise at least $20,000 to cover her medical treatments not fully covered by insurance, medications, and essential living expenses during this difficult time. Your support, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Lisa focus on what matters most—healing and getting back to the life, animals, and music she loves.
If you know Lisa, you know her heart is as big as her talent. She’s always the first to help someone in need; now it’s our turn to help her. We can remind Lisa that she is not alone on this journey with your kindness and generosity.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Lisa and helping her get back on her feet.
