Help Little Aria Fight PVS

Donation protected

Meet Aria Claire Chretien, our sweet little angel born on June 10th, 2020. From the day she entered the world, she became inseparable from her big brother, Noah, and sister, Emelie. At 7 weeks old, as her family was gearing up for a cross country trip, a life-changing event was happening under their eyes - Aria's little body was fighting internally to do its job.

When Aria went in for what was expected to be a quick appointment with a cardiologist, she was quickly admitted into Deaconess Gateway hospital and put on oxygen with a concern of going into cardiac arrest. A few hours later, it was determined she would be able to receive the best care at Riley Children’s hospital in Indianapolis, IN, so she was rushed there by ambulance later that evening.

Early the next morning, Aria was diagnosed with Pulmonary Vein Stenosis (PVS). PVS is a rare form of heart disease that occurs from uncontrolled growth of myofibroblast-like cells in the walls of the pulmonary veins that block the vessel and prevent her blood from returning back to the heart from the lungs the way it is meant to. Surgery is only a temporary fix with PVS and many patients require surgical intervention many times in the first 2 years of life, so our little Aria is in for a long fight.

Due to Aria’s fragile state after arriving at Riley there were a few hurdles she had to surpass in order to get her initial surgery such as a CT scan so the surgeon could have a clearer image of her veins prior to bringing her into the OR. A few days later Aria underwent a very successful open heart surgery to re-open the veins leading from her lungs to her heart - although temporary in her condition, it would stabilize her and help set her on a path for the many future surgical and non surgical interventions.

In order for Aria to have the best care available, little Aria was then transferred via jet to Boston Children’s Hospital where there is a department that specializes in her specific rare heart disease.

Due to the transfer, her entire immediate family uprooted their lives in little Evansville, Indiana and are now living out of their camper in the Boston area so that Aria can receive the care she needs.

She's been through the ringer, and at just 3 months old she's experienced and been through more pain and suffering than anyone we know…and her road to healing will be a long one. With her condition she will be undergoing regular surgeries, tests, and medical treatments for the remainder of her life.

As you can imagine, the bills from such a condition build up pretty quickly. To give you an example, just her 3 hour ambulance trip from Evansville, IN to Indianapolis, IN was over $33k, and they haven't even seen the damage from her private flight to Boston yet.

The point is, although its the last wish for any family to have to ask for help in a situation like this, it has come to the point that it is necessary.

We need your help. Little Aria needs your help.

Any donations provided will go towards helping Little Aria to heal, whether it be the regular costs of travel back and forth to her appointments, medical expenses, the relocation from Indiana to the Boston area, along with any other needs of the family to help support them through this long and arduous process they will be enduring throughout Aria's battle with Pulmonary Vein Stenosis.

From the bottom of our entire family's hearts, we thank you.
