My name is Little Bear Romero-Gatz. I’m a healthcare worker by trade, but have been laid off, and been DoorDashing to make ends meet. This is hard enough as it is given the state of the economy, and the cost of living in Western Montana, but an emergency expense has made it impossible for me to earn money. My car is Chloe. A lovely 1989 Toyota Camry gifted to me by a close friend. It runs great! Healthy! And Chloe shows no signs of stopping… except for her transmission. As Chloe approaches the 200K Mile mark, the clutch has suddenly began slipping a lot. It struggles to accelerate to 25 Miles Per Hour, and hills might as well be brick walls. As you can imagine, this makes it impossible to DoorDash in order to pay rent, or even pay for maintenance on the car itself. I have been given an estimate $1.5K for repairs, and am giving myself $250 of wiggle room in case there’s a complication that causes more labor time, or a higher cost than expected for parts. I would greatly appreciate your support. Chloe means the world to me, and I’d like to keep her running as long as possible. She would appreciate it too. The fact that she keeps going tells me that she wants to live.
