We're Little Goblins Rattery and Rescue, I have always had a soft spot for these fuzzy little mischief makers, so, I started Little Goblins, we started off as just a small scale hobby breeder, but weekly we were getting messages about taking in discarded rats. Some were abandoned by their owners, some were thrown outside, or taken in by some kind stranger to prevent them from becoming another animals food, some were misfits who couldn't be with other rats, a lot we seniors and orphans.
But we rescue more than just rats, since being in our current location , we have taken in a few rescue dogs and cats, but the truth is, our location just doesn't allow us to do as much as we would like when it come to taking in and caring for our furry (and sometimes scaley) friends.
We have a goal of moving to a more rural setting, that will allow us to build two buildings to house the rats, the boys and the girls will be getting their own free range homes with tiled flooring that would allow easy clean up, feeding and watering stations, and lots of interactive toys. (Think of it as a oversized critter nation) But we would also love to be able to open our doors as a sanctuary to farm animals who are often discarded.
There are so many ducks, chickens, and rabbits bought as Easter gifts only to be discarded. and many pigs and goats who were purchased as a "cute" pet only for the owners to realize they are a lot of work.
I personally grew up on a farm, and then spent over 15 years working with animals professionally, including as a vet tech, so, I know that not only can we give these animals the love they need but also the care.
We are wanting to create a safe haven for misfits who no longer have a home, or need to be removed from a abusive situation.
This amount is going to cover at least three acres (though one property we are considering has 20 acres) and two outdoor buildings for the rats, and outdoor enclosures for other rescues.
Our goal is to move to the hills of rural Kentucky to give us enough privacy to allow the animals more freedom. We have a few properties in mind, but we need assistance to reach that goal. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
