I’m Jasmine and I’m reaching out on behalf of my son Isaiah. Zay is a strong, brave, curious and intuitive 2-year-old who's been fighting for his health since birth when he received his diagnosis of End Stage Kidney Disease (kidney failure). He's been relying on peritoneal dialysis for 10 hours a night every night since having his catheter placed in his abdomen.

As you can imagine, this journey has been incredibly challenging for us as a family and especially hard for Zay. The constant medical treatments, surgeries, hospital visits, and dialysis sessions have taken a toll on our lives. But despite the obstacles, Zay remains a shining light, full of energy and joy!

However, Zay's only hope for a long and healthy life is a kidney transplant. This life-saving surgery will allow him to grow up without the burden of dialysis and live a normal childhood.

But, the transplant journey is long and expensive. The recovery process is lengthy and requires very close monitoring. During the first 3 months after transplant is the time the recipient is at the most risk for infection and rejection. After surgery, Zay will need to stay near the hospital for a couple months to ensure his new kidney is functioning properly. We will be spending about 4-5 months in Houston. This means 8 weeks of initial hospitalization, 8-12 weeks of closely monitored follow-up appointments, medication and treatment adjustments, regular lab tests and check-ups. Over time the frequency of outpatient visits will spread out.

Our family needs help covering the costs of travel to Texas from Louisiana and back for frequent hospital visits, parking fees, lodging near the hospital for the recovery and follow-up appointments, meals for the family during the long stays, loss of income from taking leave from work and any medical expenses not covered by insurance.
