Help Liverpool Gardener with Community Garden Centre Dream

Donation protected
Kieran's journey shows how one person's dream can plant the seeds of change for an entire community.

A STORY OF DETERMINATION

When Kieran discovered Simon Squibb's entrepreneurial videos asking people “What’s your dream?”, something clicked. Tired of trading time for money in unfulfilling jobs, and determined to turn his life around after overcoming a troubled background, he found the courage to pursue his true passion: gardening with purpose.

That spark of inspiration led him to pawn his bike for a ticket to Twickenham, where he shared his dream at the HelpBnk staircase, asking for help from Simon Squibb and the HelpBnk community.

Kieran started pursuing his dream with nothing but determination, pushing a lawnmower down the street because he didn’t have a vehicle. And having no business training, he built Swan Landscapes from the ground up. Door by door, customer by customer. He's now operating his own van and has built a whole network.

But his dream extends far beyond maintaining gardens – he wants to grow futures. To give young people in Liverpool opportunities that he never had.

“The strongest people ask for help,” he and Simon will tell you.

And now he’s asking for ours.

THE VISION: More Than Just a Garden Centre

Kieran's planned community garden centre will be:

  • A transformative space where young people can learn practical business and trade skills
  • A vibrant hub for growing fresh fruits and vegetables and working with the earth
  • A community center hosting events and programs that bring people together and encourages us to ask each other for help
  • An inspiration for others who need someone to believe in them
  • An addition to the growing social economy in Liverpool that includes Kitty's Launderette, Good Market, and Homebaked Bakery

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

Despite his tremendous progress and support from the HelpBnk community (including donated website services from FMOTION Ltd), Kieran hasn't received any financial or hands-on business help and faces a critical bottleneck.

His current equipment is holding him back – jobs take twice as long as they should, limiting his ability to grow and reinvest in this vision. Kieran's determination has seen him through so far, but not having had the benefit of experienced business help from the beginning, he’s suffered many setbacks.

Your contribution will help purchase professional-grade equipment that means Kieran can:

  • Do a higher quality job in about half the time
  • Take on more clients and more types of work
  • Generate sustainable income

Contributions over the goal amount will get Kieran the business help he needs to make Swan Landscapes sustainable long term sustainable and a pathway to the community centre.

  • Create jobs locally through a company that serves the community
  • Create opportunities for young people seeking better lives

BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER

Kieran's story will be featured in the upcoming documentary What's Our Dream?", alongside social entrepreneur Simon Squibb, highlighting how people building business for purpose that benefit the community are reshaping economies and lives worldwide.

His journey from watching inspirational videos to becoming an inspiration himself shows the ripple effect that believing in someone's potential can have.

YOUR INVESTMENT IN CHANGE

Every pound you contribute goes directly toward building not just a business, but a better future for Liverpool's young people. Despite challenges including dyslexia and a troubled youth, Kieran has persevered because he believes in the power of community and helping each other to transform lives.

Unlike a charity, your funds are invested in kickstarting a business, that when profitable, no longer needs donations to sustain itself, but whose purpose led founders contribute profit to community wellbeing.

Businesses like this – or Social Trading Organisations (STOs) as Kindred calls them – are crucial investments in a fairer economy and a better future for our city.

Join us in showing how the right help at the right time can transform lives.

Let's help Kieran's dream take root and grow into something that will keep serving the community for decades to come.

Donate a fiver (or more if you can!) today, help us change Kieran's life, and change the world a little too.

FINANCIAL FORECAST

Our forecast is that by the end of 2025, Swan Landscapes will be sustainably employing both Kieran and at least one other employee full time, and we will have started the long term business plan for the community garden centre to seek funding support from Kindred, or a similar organisation that supports the social economy here in Liverpool.

With your help, we can get Kieran the support he needs to make this happen. Thank you for helping make dreams come true.
